About the Project
Weagreed was created as a brand-new freelance platform designed to connect clients with talented professionals. The goal was to construct a dual-sided ecosystem where both freelancers and clients could navigate easily, evaluate confidently, and complete actions without friction. The entire information architecture, UI system, matching logic, and user flows were built entirely from zero using a first-principles approach.
My Role
My first experience working as part of a team, and I had the chance to directly observe how strong communication within the team positively influences the design process.
Challange
When designing a new freelance platform, key challenges included:
Users need clear guidance on where to begin.
Two different user types require balanced and intuitive flows.
Trust must be built from the very first interaction.
The matching model must be transparent and easy to understand.
Listing and detail pages must inform without overwhelming.
The entire platform must be modular and scalable for future growth.
Research
A discovery process consisting of market research, competitor evaluation, user expectation analysis, and IA prototyping shaped the foundations of the product.
Detailed Findings
Freelancers: Prioritize portfolio, pricing, skills, and reviews.
Clients: Want fast filtering by price, delivery time, category.
Search Behavior: Always-visible left filter panels significantly speed up search.
Trust Factors: Social proof strongly influences conversions.
Matching System: AI-assisted matching must be explained in a simple, friendly way.
Scalability: A modular category structure is essential for long-term growth.
Solution Approach
A modular, scalable, trust-oriented platform was designed from scratch.
Every screen follows a clear hierarchy that speeds up decision-making for both user types.
Detailed Solutions
Homepage includes a guidance-based onboarding flow: Profile → Skills → Find Project.
“WeConnect” AI matching component visually explains the logic behind matches.
Listing page uses left-side open filters for fast searching.
Service cards were designed as modular, reusable components.
Detail page emphasizes trust with pricing tiers, reviews, statistics, and portfolio items.
Mobile layout was optimized to allow full flow completion with one hand.
Design Principles
Our design approach is built on trust supported by social proof and transparent matching logic, simplicity through minimal and lightweight flows, modular components that scale with the platform, clear information architecture for fast decision-making, and accessible typography with mobile-optimized layouts.
Users Don’t Know Where to Start
A brand-new platform must immediately guide newcomers.
Solution:
Homepage onboarding steps clearly direct users through the first actions.
Role-based personalization implemented after role selection.
Visual guidance reduces friction for both user types.
Search & Filtering Needs to Be Fast and Intuitive
Without strong filtering, users struggle to find the right services.
Solution:
Left-aligned open filters designed for rapid narrowing.
Multi-criteria filters (price, time, category, service type).
Service cards designed for quick glance scanning.
Detail Pages Need to Create Trust Instantly
With a new platform, trust elements must be intentionally designed.
Solution:
Pricing tiers designed for easy comparison.
Review summaries and statistics emphasized.
Portfolio samples and FAQs provide clarity and confidence.
This project taught me that the most critical elements when designing a platform from scratch are guidance, trust-building, and hierarchical clarity.
